Daniel Smith signs for 2024

The committee is delighted to welcome Daniel Smith as overseas professional for the 2024 season.

Daniel is a talented young cricketer from Cape Town, South Africa. Daniel is an adept Left-handed Top Order Batsman who debuted for Western Province as a 19 year old in summer 2021-22 off the back of an excellent youth career which included representing the South African U19 team late in the 2020-21 summer.

A product the the renowned SACS High School, he was the 1st XI’s leader throughout his final two years of school and in all was capped over 100 times. He went on to star for the Cobras at the Khaya Majola CSA U19 championships, he backed it up with with runs for the Cape Cobras Cubs at Cubs Week, leading to his SA U19 call up. He was bestowed with the honour of captaining the side.

In summer 2021-22, Daniel debuted for the Cobras across all three formats and has been particularly successful in the longer format since his debut, averaging 40+ in red-ball cricket at the time of writing.

Off the back of his impressive start to his career. Daniel was selected for the South Africa Emerging Players for their 2023 series against Zimbabwe having been involved in the CSA Academy programme earlier in the year.

The committee is looking forward to welcoming Daniel to London Road in April.
