Neill Henderson takes on epic challenge from his garage

Ride to the 92

In an effort to bring something positive to 2021, I will be riding the exercise bike in my garage the equivalent distance of a tour round all 92 clubs in the English League.  The initial plan is visit all 92 clubs (virtually) over a maximum of 92 days, although the location of clubs being as it is, that doesn’t necessarily mean 1 club each day.  I am raising money for Cancer Research UK.  They carry out genuine life-saving research, and I’m sure we all know people who have benefitted over the years from the work that they do (my mum being one of them!).

The challenge then is to ride a little under 4,150km, and I started on 1st January with the trip to Lincoln City.  This was followed by rides to Scunthorpe United, Grimsby Town, Hull City, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Newcastle, and Carlisle before finding myself at Barrow AFC yesterday (12th Jan).  That’s 600km completed, and just over 3,500km to go.  Next on the list are Morecambe, Fleetwood, Blackpool and a number of other Lancashire based clubs before moving to Yorkshire and beyond, with a planned finish no later than April 2nd 2021.

I only need 10 fans from each club to give £1 each to hit my target, but it might be that some could afford more than £1, and if there are any who feel £2, £5 or even more is within their budget then all the better.  If you are a fan, please don’t assume someone else will donate for you!  And if you aren’t a fan, please do still consider supporting the cause anyway.

Donations can be made by going to

I look forward to getting some support for this challenge, which can be followed on Twitter and Instagram (although I do need to work out how to use Instagram first!):

if anyone is that bothered to know how I’m doing.  Feel free to share the justgiving link with anyone who you think might be willing to donate, and in the meantime I’ll just crack on with the challenge!
