On Saturday the 1st XI hosted Woodhall Spa. Winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Sleaford made early inroads with the ball as Tite bowled with pace and accuracy to remove the top 3. Teetering at 55/5, Woodhall recovered through Matt Carter making 66, before he was bowled by Hall. His dismissal triggered a further collapse as they were bowled out for just 159 in the 34th over. Tite returning excellent figures of 5/30, ably supported by Hall with 4/34 and Peck with 1/30 whose figures did not do him justice. With the run chase, despite the early loss of Mansfield and Tite Sleaford were on top with Patel making 23 and Hibberd 36. Stephan joined Shorthouse in the middle and the pair crafted a hard worked partnership of 67 to take the home side to the brink of victory. Stephan made a useful 33 and Shorthouse remained undefeated on 45 as the runs were knocked off for the loss of 5 wickets in the 30th over. The team move up to 5th place in the table with 2 games remaining.
The 2nd XI travelled to Bourne. Batting first, Bourne racked up a useful total of 266. Goddard captured 4/40 with 2 wickets for Makwana and 1 each for Lambert, Sanders and Lond. Unfortunately, the earlier season batting form of the team seems to have deserted them in recent weeks as no batter made 20 in a total of just 137 which included 41 extras.
On Sunday the 1’s were at Lindum. Batting first they managed 193/7 in their 40 overs, largely built on Godby’s undefeated 82 with useful support from D Harbron with 48. Some tight bowling by the Sleaford attack restricted Lindum to 185/6 to give the away team the win by 8 runs. Godby taking 2 wickets with 1 each for K Harbron and Hibberd. The team remain top of the table having won 12 from 14 games.
The Sunday 2’s were also away at Nettleham. Asked to bat 1st, Sleaford were all out for 173 in the last over. Sneath top scoring with 70 and 47 for Ben Glendinning. Nettleham had very little trouble in knocking off the total in 33.3 overs for the loss of just 2 wickets. The successful bowlers being Phillips and Henry Haywood.
The Women’s 1st XI were in action too at home on Sunday against Nettleham. Batting first they could only muster 118 all out in 29.4 overs. Top scorer was Alexia Page-Graves with 33. A spirited performance with the ball saw Sleaford win by 22 runs as they dismissed Nettleham for 96. Millie Bell claiming 5/19, Evie Jarvis 2 wickets and 1 apiece for Millie Townend, Holly Vaughan and Libby Naylor.
