It is with the greatest sadness that Sleaford Cricket Club announce the death of one of their greatest post war stalwarts, Nigel Onyon (front row, second from left). On the reformation of Sleaford Cricket Club after the war, the Club was largely supported by a number of local families.
The Onyon family were notable in their great support, with Sid Onyon as a player, and for many years Treasurer of the Club particularly at a time when huge amounts of capital expenditure was necessary.
His son Nigel who sadly passed away at Lincoln on Sunday 26th March followed as keen support both as a player and as an Club Officer holding numerous club positions for some 30 or so years.
He was an all-rounder often bothering the First and Second XI of the Club and to his immense credit was almost always available for both weekend games. He was Second XI captain for 4 years following his father for 5 years.
The club offer their heartfelt Sympathy to Rhoda and his family.
