Cricket Returns (albeit slightly different)

The hiatus is over! Cricket made a welcome return yesterday to London Road with a Sleaford side taking on our neighbours, Heckington CC, in a 40 over aside friendly.

There were a few differences to the game which were observed throughout the day. Some of these included regular hygiene breaks every 6 overs with the ball being cleaned and players sanitising their own hands. Sadly, we probably won’t be seeing any teas at Sleaford this year and the changing rooms were also not used. Batters now have a running lane to maintain social distancing and team huddles/high-fives will be a thing of the past for this season.

Our thanks goes to the Heckington CC who managed to get a team together at short notice. The game itself saw Sleaford post 231-7 with half centuries for Simon Godby and Matt Wing. In reply, Heckington were dismissed under 100 with Max Lorimer taking 5 wickets.

Next week we have two friendlies organised against Woodhall Spa CC with the 1st XI playing at home and the 2nd XI heading to Jubilee Park. Both games start at 1pm and are 40 overs a side. On Sunday, a Sleaford XI take on Nocton in another friendly.
