Cricket returned to London Road over the weekend with a friendly warm up against Billingborough on Saturday and the first Lincoln League match versus Woodhall Spa.
The aim on Saturday was to get some overs in the legs and time in the middle before the serious stuff starts next weekend. Sleaford, batting first, made 173 in their 45 overs, dominated by 70 from Ben Lambert. With the ball wickets were shared with Kieran Harbron being the pick of the bowlers finishing with 4/23. Brother Drew applied the finishing touch taking the final Billingborough wicket with the scores tied. A useful workout for those involved.
Onto Sunday, Sleaford 1st XI batted first posting a competitive total of 214/5 in their 40 overs. Debutant Sam Morby impressing with 74 at the top of the order, ably supported by Simon Godby (42) and a well struck 64 from Tom Sanders. This proved too many for Woodhall as they limped to 166/8. Kieran again the pick of the bowlers with another 4 wicket haul whilst Scott Tite took 3/19 in a disciplined performance.
